I know what you mean. But it isn't on my list for a couple reasons. I was trying to think of what every human needs, no matter what time or context they're born in. And for most of our history, we've lived in tribes. So your immediate community was what you belonged to - there was no bigger, extended 'society' to feel you belonged to. Also, you could look at society as just an ever-larger layer of community. Like, the idea of a 'nation' is that it's a group of people with some shared identity, so that's a kind of community, too. Basically, I use community to refer to any group of folks your life plays out amongst who aren't your kin. Does that make sense? Or do you think it should be amended?
Yeah I think you can argue that society is just wider community. I personally think that proximity matters a lot though. Community feels more local to me, while society feels more global.
