Hello! Substack introduced a chat feature on their app a little while ago, and as of this week, you can also chat from a desktop. I’ve been thinking of giving it a try, and Mothering Sunday seems like a fortuitous day to go for it.
The chat group will be for anyone who subscribes to Mama Dentata. What will we chat about? That’s a good question, and one that I wanted to ask you. If we’re going to use this new feature, it should only be because we find it useful and enjoyable. What do you think you might like from it?
I would like it to be a space to ask questions, share articles, and swap tales that are Mama Dentata related. I think that could be a really good resource for everyone who wants it. And as the leader of this operation, I hope it will give me the chance to get a better sense of who you readers are, and why you have subscribed, and how I can make this publication better.
If you’d like to join (and it is, of course, entirely up to you), you can get the app, or you should be able to access the new chat page on the Substack website. I’ll be using both. We’re all spread across quite a range of timezones, which is amazing, but might make responding in real time a little tricky. But I’m sure we’ll make it work.
Lastly, Happy Mothering Sunday to anyone reading this in Guernsey, Ireland, Isle of Man, Jersey, Nigeria, or the United Kingdom! Which I’ve just learned that the reason it’s celebrated in March in those countries is because they mark it on the fourth Sunday of Lent.
p.s. As ever, if you want to talk to me about anything privately rather than in the group or in public, you can just reply directly to this or any other emails you get from me.
